Cordes-sur-Ciel · Tarn · Occitanie
The Charles Portal Museum, founded in 1936, is an associative museum dedicated to art, history and the heritage of the Cordais region. Housed in a medieval building listed as a Historic Monument in Cordes-sur-Ciel, in Tarn, the museum has held the label since 2003. Its seven exhibition rooms present the history of the region from prehistory to the 19th century, through objects, video documents and explanatory panels. Managed by the association "Society of Friends of Old Cordes," active since 1904 in the conservation of local heritage, the museum also offers educational activities, lectures and weaving workshops.
