The Gallery of Sculptures and Plaster Casts is housed in the Petite Écurie of the Palace of Versailles, a building constructed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart between 1679 and 1682. Since 1970, it has welcomed the plaster cast collection of the Department of Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities of the Louvre Museum, as well as original marble sculptures from the gardens of Versailles. The collection is distinguished by period plaster casts from the 17th and 18th centuries representing ancient Greek and Roman statues, complemented by a significant collection of ancient architecture. Among the works preserved are notably copies of the Parthenon in Athens, the Dioscuri of the Quirinal in Rome, and the Farnese Hercules. The gallery is open free of charge on weekends and public holidays from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
