The Tinsmith Ecomuseum of Salbris is housed in an 18th-century farmhouse that has accommodated since 1784 the workshop and home of a family of tinsmiths. It constitutes the only heritage site in France dedicated to preserving and presenting the tinsmith trade in its original setting. The museum documents the craft skills of this now-extinct profession, which consisted of manufacturing and processing tinware household utensils, as well as the daily environment of the era. The site includes the tinsmith's workshop, equipped with traditional tools, and the communal bread oven which, in the 18th and 19th centuries, was the center of social life and conviviality in the neighborhood. The ecomuseum also traces the evolution of the trade, which gradually transformed into roofing work, then into plumbing and heating, until the workshop's closure in 1980. Located in Sologne at Salbris (Loir-et-Cher), this place of memory offers guided tours, local Solognote gastronomic experiences, and accommodation options.
