Located on the northern tip of Tunisia near the Mediterranean coast, this archaeological site preserves the remains of an ancient Punic city and its associated burial grounds. The site is significant as one of the few Punic settlements in North Africa that has been extensively excavated and studied, offering valuable insights into the daily life, urban planning, and burial practices of Punic civilization. The ruins reveal a well-organized residential quarter with houses featuring courtyard layouts typical of Punic architecture, along with evidence of domestic activities and trade. The necropolis contains numerous tombs that provide important information about funerary customs and beliefs of the Punic population. The combination of residential structures, domestic artifacts, and burial remains makes this site an important resource for understanding Punic culture and its development in the western Mediterranean region. The archaeological evidence found here contributes to broader knowledge of pre-Roman North African societies and their interactions with other Mediterranean civilizations.
