Located in Nova Scotia, Canada, this site comprises a series of coastal cliffs that expose exceptional geological formations from the Carboniferous period. The fossiliferous cliffs contain significant paleontological evidence, including well-preserved remains of early terrestrial vertebrates and plants, which have contributed substantially to scientific understanding of early reptile evolution and ancient ecosystems. The vertical rock faces reveal distinct sedimentary layers that document environmental changes over geological time. The site's scientific importance lies in its abundant and diverse fossil record, which has been studied extensively since the nineteenth century and continues to provide valuable data for paleontological research. The cliffs rise prominently above the shoreline, creating a distinctive landscape shaped by ongoing coastal erosion that continuously exposes new fossil-bearing strata.
