Located in central Bulgaria near the town of Kazanlak, this ancient Thracian tomb dates to the Hellenistic period and represents a significant archaeological monument from the region's pre-Roman history. The site consists of a subterranean chamber featuring a distinctive barrel-vaulted stone structure, typical of Thracian burial architecture of this era. The interior walls are decorated with frescoes depicting scenes of daily life, hunting, and funeral banquets, which provide valuable insights into Thracian artistic traditions and cultural practices. These wall paintings, executed in tempera technique, demonstrate sophisticated artistic knowledge and iconographic conventions of the period. The tomb's architectural design and pictorial programme reflect the influence of Greek culture on the Thracian elite during this transitional historical period. As a well-preserved example of Thracian funerary art and architecture, the tomb contributes significantly to understanding the material culture and beliefs of ancient Thracian societies.
