Rousson · Gard · Occitanie

Prehistorama is a museum dedicated to the history of life on Earth, from the first cells to Homo sapiens. Located in Rousson in the Gard, it presents a collection of over 1,500 pieces including authentic fossils and casts, organized in a gallery of 78 display cases including approximately 40 dioramas recreating scenes of prehistoric life. The life-sized human and animal figures presented were sculpted and naturalized according to a scientific method by Eirik Granqvist, prehistorian, sculptor and taxidermist. The museum covers all prehistoric periods, from the primate Purgatorius to the Metal Age. The site offers, in addition to free or guided visits, themed lectures and educational workshops for children.
