Musée de sculpture
Noyant-Villages · Maine-et-Loire · Pays-de-la-Loire
The Jules-Desbois Museum, located in Noyant-Villages in Maine-et-Loire, is dedicated to the work of sculptor Jules Desbois (1851-1935). The museum presents approximately one hundred sculptures and decorative art objects that bear witness to the art of the sculptor, friend and collaborator of Auguste Rodin. The collections illustrate three major axes of his work: the representation of movement, the study of the female form, and realistic aesthetics, blending influences from Japonism and mythological repertoires. The museum also explores decorative arts and the industrial creation of decorative objects, a field to which Desbois contributed significantly from the 1890s onwards. This museum in a rural setting offers seasonal access, open from April to November.
