The Joseph-Denais Museum is a museum located in Beaufort-en-Anjou, in Maine-et-Loire. Founded in 1894 from the personal collection of Joseph Denais, a local scholar and passionate collector, the museum houses more than 9,000 objects of great diversity. Its collections cover natural history, fine arts, Mediterranean archaeology, the local history of Beaufort and ethnography, organized along a path through seven thematic rooms. The museum thus combines pieces of universal interest—Egyptian mummies, fossils, sculptures—with testimonies of local and regional history. This eclectic collection, enriched over time by deposits from major Parisian museums and acquisitions from travels, makes it an encyclopedic cabinet of curiosities intended to educate and interest all audiences.
