Gennes-Val-de-Loire · Maine-et-Loire · Pays-de-la-Loire

The Terrestrial Helix of Orbière is a contemporary visual arts space located in the troglodytic village of Orbière, in Maine-et-Loire. The site is centered on a monumental sculpture created by Jacques Warminski, a visual artist of Polish origin, realized between 1988 and 1993 in the heart of a rock-cut dwelling whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. Since 1996, the Artrodytespace association has ensured the conservation of the work and managed the site by offering a program of artistic events and live performances. The museum combines a sculpted visit and a space for cultural expression, hosting thematic exhibitions and performances within a singular troglodytic architecture. The ensemble constitutes a heritage site blending vernacular history and contemporary creation.
