Musée Farcot

Sainville · Eure-et-Loir · Centre-Val de Loire

The Farcot Museum, established in France since 2003, is located in rural territory in Sainville, in Eure-et-Loir. It traces the life and collections of Eugène Farcot (1830-), a notable from the commune who bequeathed his acquisitions to his native town. The museum layout is organized according to the 19th-century cabinet of curiosities model, in three sections: horology and Farcot's career as a recognized clockmaker, antiquities and archaeological collections (Greece, Rome, Egypt, Far East) testifying to his travels, and aeronautical navigation, a field of theoretical expertise documented in his 1859 work. The museum is open to the public on the second Sunday of each month, with the possibility of booking during school holidays.
