Musée
Barenton · Manche · Normandie

The Poiré Museum is an ecomuseum established in Barenton, in Manche, since 1983, in the buildings of a traditional Norman bocage farm. The only one dedicated to poiré, this sparkling beverage emblematic of the Mortain and Domfront regions, it presents collections ranging from historical fruit processing equipment, such as the long-press and granite grinding stone, to modern processes. The museum is complemented by a heritage orchard hosting approximately one hundred varieties of pears and apples. Gateway to the Normandy-Maine Regional Natural Park and Geopark, it offers activities, exhibitions and workshops throughout the year, as well as tastings of local farm products.
