The museum of the castle of the Dukes of Brittany, located in the heart of the medieval district of Nantes, occupies a castle built at the end of the 15th century by Francis II and his daughter Anne of Brittany. It is dedicated to the history of Nantes and offers permanent collections as well as temporary exhibitions. The site includes both the castle interiors converted into a museum and a courtyard with ramparts that are freely accessible. The castle also houses the Memorial to the Abolition of Slavery and develops a thematic program exploring in particular decoloniality issues. Visitors can explore the architectural and historical heritage of the site through different types of visits offered.
