The Dole Fine Arts Museum is a museum that has been located since 1980 in the Officers' Pavilion, an eighteenth-century building renovated according to brutalism principles by architect Louis Miquel. Its collections cover painting from the sixteenth to nineteenth century with an emphasis on Burgundian and Comtois schools, Italian and Flemish Renaissance, as well as French painting of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The museum also possesses a section of medieval archaeology and a collection of contemporary art built up since 1983 around Critical Figuration and Nouveau Réalisme. Its identity rests on a continuous dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary creation, reflecting the history of Dole, the former capital of the Comté. The museum offers thematic guided tours, workshops and monthly evenings of introduction to collections and temporary exhibitions.
