The Tautavel Prehistory Museum is a site museum located in a rural area in the Eastern Pyrenees. Created in 1978 and restructured in 1992, it operates as an integrated scientific complex combining research, conservation and exhibition around the archaeological site of Caune de l'Arago. The museum houses a collection from systematic excavations conducted since 1964, including 152 prehistoric human remains, notably that of the Tautavel Man, dating back approximately 450,000 years. Its collections document European prehistory and human presence in the territory of present-day France. The museum regularly offers educational activities, workshops and guided tours for families and school groups, as well as temporary exhibitions within its museum pathway.
