The Museum of Protestant France in the West is located at the Bois-Tiffrais château in Monsireigne, in Vendée. A regional museum of Protestant history, it is managed by the Society for the History of French Protestantism, recognized as a public utility organization since 1870. The museum's collections and documentary resources cover the religious and cultural history of Protestantism in western France, with particular emphasis on Reformed churches of the 16th and 17th centuries, the genealogy of Protestant families from Lower Poitou and Saintonge, as well as studies on Francophone Protestant hymnology. The museum offers guided tours and also preserves a photograph collection as well as archives relating to Protestant family and community cemeteries in the region. The site also hosts receptions in its orangery that opens onto the castle park.
