The Hôtel-Dieu Museum is located in the heart of the historic center of Mantes-la-Jolie, in Vaucluse, near the medieval Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame. Labeled in 2003, it houses collections spanning several centuries of artistic creation, presented over three levels. The ground floor brings together testimonies of the Mantais heritage from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, including Gothic sculptures from the Collegiate Church and works by painters from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The first floor hosts the exceptional Maximilien Luce collection, comprising nearly 350 pieces (paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics) that trace the life and work of this post-impressionist artist. Renovated between 2017 and 2020, the museum regularly organizes temporary exhibitions and also preserves important historical collections from former Mantais museums of Brieussel-Bourgeois Square.
