Musée de l'Art Photographique

Mortagne-du-Nord · Nord · Hauts-de-France

The Museum of Photographic Art is located on the first floor of the former river customs house of Mortagne-du-Nord, on the banks of the Escaut. It presents a collection of photographic cameras covering the period from the late 19th century to 2005, illustrating the three major transformations of photography: the mechanization of black and white, the emergence of color film photography, and then the arrival of digital technology. Structured around a volunteer association run by Martine Leroux, the museum is regularly open on Thursdays. It also organizes "open house" days twice a year, particularly on Ascension Thursday and during a photography swap meet and fair.
