Musée d'histoire locale
Lyon · Rhône · Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Military History Museum of Lyon and its Region is an institution dedicated to presenting the military history of the Lyon territory and region, from Antiquity to the contemporary period. Run by the Association for Military Heritage of Lyon and its Region (APAM), it displays uniforms, weapons, objects and documents illustrating a chronological journey covering thirteen historical periods, from the Gauls to the present day. The collections are housed at the Cercle Général Frère (Avenue Leclerc, 7th arrondissement), on the first floor and ground floor, with free access and by appointment for guided tours. The museum is complemented by the Humbert de Groslée Military Library, founded in 1860, which preserves rich military documentation and regularly receives significant heritage donations. This cultural center aims to make known a regional history that is often little known, covering major military events, fortifications, garrisons and local historical figures.
