Musée
Figeac · Lot · Occitanie
The Figeac History Museum is housed in the restored rooms of the former Seminary. It constitutes an organized cabinet of curiosities that documents the material memory of the city and the Lot department, enriched by collections from donors who undertook distant travels. Its collections combine prehistoric tools (Acheulean hand axes, Neolithic axes) with firearms, regional fossils and minerals with works by Catalan painter Pierre Daura (1896-1976), as well as naturalized objects and furniture of local origin, notably a sacristy piece of furniture from the Notre-Dame-du-Puy church. The museum bears witness to the diversity of the paths and exchanges of Figeac's inhabitants, a city located at the eastern edge of the Lot department. It offers thematic guided tours, in particular "The Strange Cabinet of Curiosity" regularly proposed to families.
