The Basque Museum and Museum of the History of Bayonne is located in Bayonne in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. It occupies two heritage buildings, the Dagourette house and the Château-Neuf. The museum defines itself as a museum of history and society, whose collections document the culture, language and history of the Basque Country and the city of Bayonne. It offers thematic tours adapted to different audiences, including an "Animals" tour accessible from age two, as well as an audio guide available in French, Basque, English and Spanish. A specialized library complements the visit offerings, while the museum develops a regular program of temporary exhibitions and cultural activities.
