Méautis · Manche · Normandie

The Bloody Gulch Memorial, located at Donville Manor in Méautis in Manche, is a museum dedicated to the history of the manor and the events of World War II. The manor, a cob building protected as a historical monument, preserves its period décor and its chapel whose origins date back to the 11th century. It was at the heart of the fighting during the German counter-attack of June 12 and 13, 1944, known as the Battle of Bloody Gulch. The museum offers interactive guided tours covering the history of the manor and chapel from the Middle Ages to the present day, as well as the battle and its military stakes. Thematic events and historical reenactment shows are organized each year. Testimonies from civilians who experienced the fighting complement the memorial approach of the site.
