The Prehistoric City is an archaeological museum located in Orgnac-l'Aven, in Ardèche. Integrated into the Grand Site of France of Aven d'Orgnac, this museum in a rural setting offers an educational and interactive approach to Prehistory spanning a chronological depth of 350,000 years, based on authentic collections. The site combines the museum space with outdoor workshops where animators recreate prehistoric techniques and invite visitors to relive the gestures of their ancestors. It complements the underground experience of the Aven d'Orgnac cave, discovered in 1935, by broadening understanding of the geological and human context of this territory. The museum also offers temporary exhibitions, complementary activities, and is committed to an eco-responsible policy.
