The Ardèche Museum, located in Balazuc, is a natural history museum dedicated to fossils and prehistory. It presents a collection of fossils from the Ardèche territory, covering a period of several hundred million years: marine fauna from the Jurassic period dating back approximately 165 million years, and mummified fossils linked to the volcanism of the Coiron dating back 8 million years. The museum offers guided tours, paleontological excavation workshops, and a gallery dedicated to dinosaurs featuring casts of fossil specimens. Located in a medieval village classified among the most beautiful villages in France, the museum benefits from its proximity to the Géopark of the Ardèche Mountains and offers activities suited to families and school groups.
