Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle de Puisaye (SHNY)

Charny Orée de Puisaye · Yonne · Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

The Natural History Museum of Puisaye, located in Charny Orée de Puisaye in the Yonne, is run by the Natural History Society of the Yonne (SHNY), an association created in 2016. The museum, inaugurated in 2022, offers collections of mineralogy, entomology and paleontology, complemented by live presentations of regional reptiles and amphibians in captivity. The establishment fulfills an educational function through a virtual museum intended for educational institutions and the general public. The association also conducts scientific studies on local fauna and flora and on amblypyges, a small order of little-known tropical arachnids. Training in terrarium keeping and discovery days complete the offering, with a view to raising awareness of species conservation issues.
