The Jean de La Fontaine Museum, located in the birthplace of the fabulist in Château-Thierry (Aisne), is a literary museum and a House of Illustrious Figures. Completely restored and modernized, the museum reopened in January 2026 after four years of work, offering a renewed exhibition combining heritage, literature and visual arts. The collections include paintings, engravings, sculptures and furniture, bearing witness to the admiration paid to the seventeenth to twentieth century poet. The visit features interactive displays, audio narratives and projections, complemented by a free garden with open access. Located in the heart of the city, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, workshops and guided tours, with facilities ensuring accessibility for all audiences.
