The Carillon Museum is located in the bell tower of Saint-Christophe, a historic monument dating from the 16th century, which houses one of the most important carillons in France with 62 bells. Opened in 1962 and renovated in 1991, the museum presents the history of Tourcoing's carillons, their mechanisms and successive developments since the 17th century. The route, accessible by a stone spiral staircase, allows visitors to discover the old mechanisms, including a 16th-century clock, as well as a collection dedicated to bell-making, their religious and domestic functions, and sound instruments from other continents. The museum also preserves church crosses and weathercocks, as well as clappers and rattles. The visit concludes near the panoramic view of the city offered from the top of the bell tower.
