The Museum of June 5, 1944 "Message Verlaine" is a history museum located in Tourcoing, in the North of France. It occupies a completely restored German staff bunker, which played a historical role during the Normandy landings. Several rooms are reconstructed from the period, notably the technical facilities, kitchen, sanitary facilities, the general's bedroom, the telephone exchange and the listening station, enhanced with period mannequins wearing uniforms with contemporary equipment and weapons. The museum also presents exceptional collections relating to the "war of the airwaves": German, Vichy French and English radio direction-finding apparatus, as well as period teletypes, whose grouping together constitutes a museum rarity. Civilian life under occupation is evoked through the reconstruction of a home interior, and regional documents complete the exhibition. Managed by an association for over twenty years, the museum fulfills a function of transmitting memory around the landings and the Second World War.
