The International Tapestry Centre is a departmental museum located in Aubusson, in Creuse, dedicated to the art of low-warp weaving practiced in this region for nearly six centuries. The museum offers an immersive journey celebrating the history of this textile tradition, highlighting ancient, modern and contemporary works, as well as the excellence of the craftsmanship associated with their creation. A public institution with a unique model, the Centre combines a cultural and artistic mission with a role in training and promoting the local economic sector. It is committed to transmitting the tapestry-making expertise of Aubusson, recognized by UNESCO, and promotes contemporary tapestry creation. Labeled as such, it constitutes a resource and mediation centre rooted in its territory.
