The Museum of Prehistory of the Saulges Caves Valley, located in Thorigné-en-Charnie in Mayenne, offers an immersion into Prehistory through the visit of two caves and a dedicated museum. The site includes Margot Cave and Rochefort Cave, the latter being the only decorated cave in Western France open to visitors. The museum addresses archaeology and prehistory in their natural context, with the valley being classified for the richness of its environment. Educational and family activities are regularly offered, including demonstrations of prehistoric tool-making and activities related to local archaeological discoveries. The site is also part of an approach to enhance the territory with hiking trails and integration into the small towns of character.
