Musée de la Mine
Auchel · Pas-de-Calais · Hauts-de-France
Located in Auchel, in the heart of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais mining basin, the Jacques Deramaux Mine Museum occupies the premises of a former training school for mining trades. The museum offers an underground reconstruction allowing visitors to discover the working and learning conditions of young miners from the age of 14. Visits, lasting two hours, are conducted by former miners who underwent their training at the site, providing direct testimony of this experience. The museum is open for regular access on Tuesday and Thursday, and by appointment for other days. It constitutes a heritage testimony to the region's industrial heritage.
