Maison Ecole du Grand Meaulnes

Épineuil-le-Fleuriel · Cher · Centre-Val de Loire

Located in Épineuil-le-Fleuriel, in southern Boischaut (Cher, Centre-Val de Loire), the Maison Ecole du Grand Meaulnes is a museum dedicated to Alain-Fournier's eponymous novel and to the memory of its author. Installed since 1994 in a former school building constructed in 1872, the site functions as a writer's house and historical monument, bearing witness to French education during the Third Republic era. The museum offers self-guided and guided tours, as well as audio guide devices, allowing visitors to rediscover the school as it was in 1900 and the places that inspired the novel. Open to the public since 1995 and managed by an association established under the 1901 law, the site welcomes individuals, families and groups according to a seasonal calendar.
