Cultural
Viêt Nam

Located in central Vietnam, this ensemble comprises the principal monuments of Huê, the imperial capital during the Nguyễn Dynasty. The site includes the Citadel, royal palaces, temples, and other structures that reflect the political and cultural significance of the city as the seat of imperial power. The architectural layout and design demonstrate Vietnamese adaptations of Chinese urban planning principles, combined with local building traditions. The monuments showcase the artistic and architectural achievements of the Nguyễn period, featuring distinctive Vietnamese characteristics in their decoration and spatial organization. The site represents an important phase in Vietnamese history and constitutes a substantial testimony to the country's feudal architectural heritage. Despite damage sustained during the twentieth century, the remaining monuments retain substantial historical and cultural value as representatives of imperial Vietnamese civilization.
