Parcs d'État et national Redwood

Located in northern California, United States, this ensemble of protected areas comprises several state and national parks dedicated to the preservation of coastal redwood forests. The sites protect some of the most significant remaining old-growth redwood ecosystems, which have been substantially reduced through historical logging activities. These forests are characterized by their towering coast redwoods, the tallest tree species on Earth, alongside diverse understory vegetation and associated wildlife habitats. The parks encompass varied landscapes including old-growth groves, younger forest stands, and riparian corridors that support complex ecological communities. The natural values of the redwood forests, including their biodiversity, geological significance, and role in carbon sequestration, justify their recognition as sites of outstanding universal value.
