Located in Thailand, this cultural site preserves significant evidence of the Dvaravati period's sema stone tradition. Sema stones, which demarcate sacred Buddhist spaces, represent an important architectural and religious practice from this historical era. The site demonstrates the material culture and spiritual beliefs of the Dvaravati civilization, a Mon-speaking Buddhist society that flourished in mainland Southeast Asia. The geographical setting of Phu Phrabat provides insight into how these religious monuments were positioned within the landscape and integrated into local communities. The stones themselves exhibit stylistic and technical characteristics typical of Dvaravati craftsmanship, contributing to broader understanding of Buddhist religious expression in the region. This site constitutes a valuable archaeological record for studying the development of Buddhist architecture and religious practices in Southeast Asian history.
