Located in the Sindh province of Pakistan, this archaeological site represents one of the earliest urban centres of the Indus Valley Civilisation. The ruins reveal the remains of a sophisticated Bronze Age settlement that flourished in the third millennium BCE, demonstrating advanced urban planning with a grid-based layout of streets and buildings. The site is characterised by its well-preserved structures, including residential areas, public buildings, and a citadel complex, along with artefacts that provide evidence of the civilisation's administrative, commercial, and domestic activities. The excavated remains showcase the technological and organisational capabilities of this ancient culture, including systems of drainage and water management. The inscription recognises the outstanding universal value of Mohenjo Daro as an exceptional testimony to the achievements of the Indus Valley Civilisation and its significance in the history of human settlement and urban development.
