Located in the Sierra de San Francisco in Baja California Sur, Mexico, this site comprises an extensive collection of rock paintings created by indigenous populations over several centuries. The murals, executed in red and black pigments on cave and rock shelter walls, depict human figures, animals, and abstract designs that provide insight into the spiritual and daily life of the region's pre-Hispanic inhabitants. The paintings are characterized by their monumental scale and sophisticated composition, reflecting a developed artistic tradition adapted to the desert environment. The remote and rugged mountainous terrain has contributed to the preservation of these artworks, protecting them from environmental degradation and human disturbance over time. The rock art of Sierra de San Francisco represents a significant cultural and archaeological record of indigenous societies in northwestern Mexico and documents aesthetic and symbolic practices of considerable historical value.
