Located in Kyrgyzstan, this site encompasses significant portions of the western Tian Shan mountain range, one of the world's largest mountain systems. The area represents an important example of mountain ecosystems and cultural landscapes shaped by centuries of human habitation and pastoral traditions. The region is characterized by dramatic terrain featuring high peaks, deep valleys, and alpine meadows, reflecting the complex geological processes that have formed this part of Central Asia. The site demonstrates the interaction between natural processes and traditional land use practices, particularly nomadic herding, which has influenced the landscape's current appearance. The western Tian Shan holds substantial value for understanding both the natural heritage and the cultural practices of the mountain communities that have inhabited it historically.
