Cultural
Allemagne
Located in Germany along the Elbe River, this cultural site encompasses the valley surrounding Dresden. The inscription recognized the outstanding universal value of the urban landscape and its architectural heritage, which reflected centuries of artistic and cultural development. The site was characterized by its ensemble of baroque and neoclassical buildings, historic bridges, and the harmonious integration of urban development within the natural landscape of the river valley. The geographical setting of the Elbe Valley provided a distinctive context for Dresden's historical significance as a major European cultural center. However, the site was subsequently removed from the UNESCO World Heritage List, marking a change in its recognized status within the organization's portfolio.
