Located in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of northwestern China, this cultural site encompasses a significant portion of the Tianshan mountain range and its surrounding areas. The site represents an outstanding testimony to the interchange of human cultures, technologies, and beliefs across the Eurasian continent over multiple centuries. The mountainous landscape served as a crucial passage and meeting point along the historic Silk Road, facilitating trade, religious transmission, and cultural exchange between East and West. The area contains archaeological remains, religious structures, and settlements that document the movements of various peoples, including nomadic groups and settled communities, as well as the spread of Buddhism and other belief systems. The Tianshan region is characterized by its alpine environment, with snow-capped peaks, high plateaus, and valleys that have shaped both the historical patterns of human movement and the preservation of archaeological evidence. Together, these elements illustrate the complex dynamics of cultural interaction and adaptation in one of Asia's most strategically important geographical zones.
