Located in northwestern Qatar on the Persian Gulf coast, this archaeological site preserves the remains of a significant historical trading settlement. The site contains the ruins of structures dating to the 18th and 19th centuries, including residential buildings, fortifications, and commercial establishments that reflect the maritime commerce networks of the region. The material culture and architectural remains provide evidence of the site's role as an important port engaged in pearl trading and regional commerce during this period. The settlement was abandoned in the early 20th century, allowing the archaeological deposits to remain largely intact. The site's ruins are distributed across the landscape, revealing the spatial organization and daily life of a historic Gulf trading community. The archaeological remains document the cultural and economic interactions that characterized the Arabian Peninsula during the pre-modern period.
