Located at the western tip of Java in Indonesia, this national park encompasses a large area of pristine tropical rainforest and coastal ecosystems. The site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its exceptional biodiversity and role as a refuge for endangered species, most notably the Javan rhinoceros, one of the world's most critically endangered mammals. The park's landscape is characterized by dense forests, coastal plains, and volcanic formations, with the nearby Krakatau volcano serving as a significant geographical feature within its marine boundaries. The terrestrial and marine environments support a diverse array of flora and fauna adapted to tropical conditions, including numerous endemic species found nowhere else. The park represents an important conservation area that protects both lowland rainforest ecosystems and complex coastal habitats, demonstrating the ecological significance of preserving large tracts of undisturbed natural forest in Southeast Asia.
