Located in central Croatia, this natural site encompasses a distinctive landscape of forested terrain and interconnected water systems. The park is characterized by a series of cascading lakes and waterfalls, with water flowing through limestone and dolomite formations, creating numerous travertine barriers that continuously shape the hydrological features. The site's geological processes, particularly the formation of travertine deposits through the interaction of water with limestone bedrock, sustain a dynamic ecosystem of considerable ecological value. The dense forest vegetation surrounding the lakes supports diverse fauna adapted to this karstic environment. The combination of geological processes, hydrological systems, and associated biodiversity justifies its recognition as a natural heritage site of international significance.
