Located in the Huila Department of southern Colombia, this archaeological park preserves one of the most important pre-Columbian sites in South America. The site is characterized by numerous stone sculptures and underground tombs dating back to the first millennium BCE, representing the artistic and funerary practices of ancient Andean cultures. The landscape consists of mountainous terrain dotted with megalithic monuments, including anthropomorphic statues and elaborate stone structures that suggest a sophisticated social organization. The archaeological remains provide significant evidence of early settlement patterns and cultural development in the region prior to European contact. The park's designation reflects the exceptional value of its material culture in understanding pre-Hispanic societies of the Andes. The site remains an important center for archaeological research and cultural heritage preservation in Colombia.
