The Palace of the King of Rome is a historic building located in Rambouillet, in Yvelines. Built between 1809 and 1811 by architect Auguste Famin at the request of Napoleon I, this building follows the plans of the Government hotel built on the same site in 1783 for Louis XVI. Intended for the Emperor's son, the palace underwent transformations, notably the destruction of its central section between 1836 and 1841. The City of Rambouillet acquired the western section, the garden and its pavilion in 1989, opening these spaces to the public. The site bears witness to the political and architectural history of the early 19th century.
