Musée
Vignacourt · Somme · Hauts-de-France
The Vignacourt 14-18 Interpretation Centre is located in the restored Thuillier farmhouse in Vignacourt in the Somme. It showcases a unique photographic collection assembled by Louis and Antoinette Thuillier, a couple of farmers who, during the Great War, improvised a photo studio in their farmyard. Civilians and allied soldiers came there to be photographed, thus creating an exceptional documentary collection that was forgotten for nearly a century before being rediscovered. The museum functions as a place of memory allowing visitors to understand the Great War through the lens of daily life. It also offers the Garden of the Celestials, a recreational space decorated with portraits inspired by the collection, where concerts and workshops are regularly organized.
