The Tavet-Delacour Museum occupies a private mansion from the late 15th century, the former residence of the Grand Vicar of Pontoise, which constitutes a rare example of late Gothic civil architecture with its corner turrets and pepper-pot roofs. Founded in 1889 at the initiative of M. Tavet, a member of the Pontoise Historical Society, the museum preserves the historical collections of the city, enriched over the 19th and 20th centuries. It notably possesses the most important preserved collection of works by Otto Freundlich, a major modern artist whose studio collection was acquired through donation in 1968. The collections have progressively turned toward modern and contemporary art, including works by Matisse, Hans Arp, Herbin and other artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Established in Pontoise in Val-d'Oise, the museum holds the label.
