The Périgord Military Museum, founded in 1911 by the Federation of Veterans of the Dordogne and recognized, is located in Périgueux. Occupying 800 m² of dedicated spaces, it preserves over 20,000 military objects tracing the history of conflicts from the Middle Ages to the present day. Its collections include weapons, uniforms, decorations, documents and artillery pieces from the Napoleonic Wars, 1870-1871, both World Wars, as well as colonial and contemporary conflicts. The museum has received donations from Périgordian families wishing to preserve the memory of their military ancestors, as well as official contributions from the State. Its originality lies in its deliberate regional focus, conceived as an alternative to the centralization of collections at the Army Museum at the Invalides.
