Located in Illiers-Combray in Eure-et-Loir, the Marcel Proust Museum is housed in the house where the writer spent his childhood vacations with his aunt Élisabeth Amiot. This residence inspired the famous "Aunt Léonie's house" described in In Search of Lost Time. Preserved and restored, the house-museum recreates the domestic atmosphere of the era, with its living quarters and garden that evoke the world from which Proust drew some of his most celebrated pages. The museum's collections include paintings, photographs, personal objects, manuscripts, rare editions, and documents relating to the life and work of Marcel Proust, highlighting the genesis of The Search. The museum thus combines the preservation of a historic site with the exhibition of collections dedicated to the writer and his major work.
