Musée de sculpture
Savigny · Rhône · Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
The lapidary museum of Savigny Abbey, located in the village of Savigny en Rhône, is dedicated to the conservation and presentation of sculpted remains from Saint-Martin Abbey. This museum specialized in sculpture brings together architectural and stone elements that bear witness to the history of the monastery, founded in the 9th-10th centuries. The collections include stone fragments reused after the French Revolution in local constructions, as well as remains from the abbey's conventional buildings, including the enclosure wall, towers, and houses of dignitaries. Managed by the association Savigny, Patrimoine d'Hier et de Demain, the museum is part of an initiative to safeguard and promote the monumental heritage of the village. Guided tours are offered to visitors to discover both the lapidary museum and the remaining vestiges of Saint-Martin Abbey.
